Forty years ago
a mom in my baby swim class asked
if I thought it would be OK if dad would be
the one helping their baby
the next week.
The question sparked a vision
of helping individuals and families to
grow in intimacy and harmony through
psychological support that can include
recreational venues.
InSpired Focus was born.
What follows is more about me and my vision.
A lifetime of “fun challenges” have informed my vision…from a “garbage can submarine” and “shooting rapids” to “karaoke” and marathons.
Along the way I received a “psychospiritual” education in Biology, Theology, and Clinical and Sports Psychology…a balance of mind, body, and spirit.
Religion” (from the Latin for “bonding”) is ideally a support group for our spirituality. “Politics” can be seen as two or more people negotiating for their mutual self-interest, and, as a belief system it too is spiritual. The problem for these two institutions is not their existence but is when they become too rigid.
We too become too rigid and isolated in our own tribal caves which is why it's important to address the gaps at the individual and family levels also…a job which I address as a Marriage Family Therapist.
Trained in Psychology and well versed in Christian scriptures and the gems and similarities of many religions, I use mindfulness and psychology to help bridge our many spiritual-political gaps.
The InSpired Focus logo reflects our inner and communal psyche and the need to play with new ideas for new and healthier games of cooperative-competition on truly level playing fields.
It’s a “game of love” in its deepest sense…one I hope you will join in with me to build our InSpired Focus for better lives and a better world.
Namaste,
Gary
